Thanksgiving thoughts

Good luck to the local high school football teams as Waukesha West, Waukesha Catholic Memorial and Cedarburg go for the championships in their respective divisions on Friday.

With turkey day fast approaching here are some things to keep in mind for pairing beers with your food menus.

Match the strength of the food with the strength of the beer.  The key is to pair delicate foods with delicate beer and heavier beers with heavier foods.

Find harmony with combinations that often work well together like pairing caramel, coffee or chocolate characteristics of certain beers with desserts.

Contrasting styles of an extra hoppy beer in contrast to some of the rich foods on the table.

Consider sweetness, bitterness, and the overall spiciness of your dishes

Practice makes perfect. Half of the fun is experimenting and having sucess and failures when pairing beer with food.

Here are a couple of beer selections to try with your Thanksgiving meal:

Leinenkugel Fireside Nut Brown

Blue Moon Pumpkin

Lakefront Pumpkin

Sam Adams Boston Lager

Any Chimay beer with appetizers or as a treat.

Bells Two Hearted Ale

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Let me know of some of your favorites after the holiday and have a great holiday with family and friends.
