101 Parade Memories

helping, festival, YouTube, Waukesha Tattoo, 8) my favorite things, art

The weather was great for Waukesha's 48th annual Christmas Parade. As a matter of fact everything was great. It was well worth missing a Packer / Viking game. It was only yesterday I signed up to wear a costume in the parade. Good thing too, may have chickened out if I had too much time to think it over.

Definitely a unique experience and perspective. Most everyone loved the Dalmatian; really young kids and a couple dogs excepted. The interaction with the parade watchers was exciting and electric. One really fun thing we did was visit many downtown businesses before the parade's start. I think it put people at ease and made them laugh. We had no problem getting people to pose with the dog, except those two policemen, and everyone we asked allowed him up on the furniture.

We took so many pictures I felt the best way to show them is in a video slideshow.

This was one of the most entertaining volunteer opportunities and I would definitely do it again. My sincerest thanks to Andrea for leading me around before the parade and for letting me lead her around in costume during the parade. I loved her wild interaction with the kiddies and adults and know she did a far better job at it than I would have.

Special thanks to everyone at Waukesha Tattoo Company, home of one of my favorite Waukesha art galleries and favorite Waukesha blogger George Wang. Great homemade curry chicken George! Thanks to tattoo artist Rich for encouraging daughter Andrea to volunteer. We both had much rewarding fun.

Thanks to Alderman Furrer for being Grinch, if even for just an hour. Merry Grinchmas Alderman!

Thanks to Larry for the Tom & Jerry - best I've had in years. Lastly, thanks to all the dog-friendly businesses in Waukesha who greeted us and made us feel welcome. 'Preciate it.
