Packers vs Bears 2 wks in a row

Polar Plunge

It's hard to say who'll win come noon Sunday. Packers don't need the win to get to the playoffs or even for home field during them. The Bears, on the other hand, have been enjoying a string of seasonally moderate temperatures and Sunday is looking pretty good for them with a high in the mid 30s.

I expect even with competition from the Packers' noon start time the Milwaukee Polar Bears will welcome a huge crowd to Bradford Beach for the mid day swim.

I've done the plunge in 3 of the last 5 years and will be tempted. December 31st of 2010 was balmy, and I even saw a neighbor mowing his lawn. The following day at the lakefront couldn't have been chillier. A really windy, frozen day for a swim. I made a video of it and you can see the camera shake with the shivers.

This year's event kicks off same time as the game... noon. The weather's been rather mild and promises to be Sunday. The water won't be warm, but probably won't be like last year either. I expect an even larger crowd will show up for the 2012 baptism. I'll be tempted.
