It's not always easy knowing for whom flags are flown at half-staff for. I wasn't even sure after looking it up for today, Saturday the 6th.
At first it appeared Gov. Walker proclaimed flags in WI to be flown at half staff Sat. the sixth to show respect for WI firefighters who've given their lives in the line of duty.
Then it looked like President Obama proclaimed the week of Oct. 7th - 13th Fire Prevention Week, and ordered all flags at federal office buildings flown at half-staff tomorrow, Sunday the 7th, to honor the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service.
A flag status website mentions flags should be flown at full-staff today and tomorrow.
Another site, one from Northern Wisconsin, mentions the date to show respect for WI firefighters was moved to next Saturday, the 13th.
One thing I'm pretty sure they'd all agree on though: you don't ever fly the Wisconsin, or any other flag, higher than the American flag. When there's a half-staff declaration all flags are to be flown half-staff.
