saying a prayer for artists
We said a prayer petition for artists during mass today. It was unexpected and out of the ordinary, but totally appropriate considering yesterday's Art Crawl and all the other beautiful things I witnessed this weekend. We thanked God for artists brightening up our world and making it a better place. Understood to mean visual artists, but as everyone knows there's more to art than meets the eye.

I saw Gregg enjoying the Art Crawl, but he didn't see me. I wondered how a blind person like Gregg would enjoy art as I looked around inside Almont Gallery. I saw hanging from the wall several mixed media things like textiles which could have been felt. Many pottery and turned wood pieces are loaded with texture, but how would Gregg know it unless someone pointed it out to him and let him feel it?
As I've seen, not everything during a crawl has to be to be enjoyed. The same beautiful artists, and a few new ones, are still around. Art of conversation... There was live music up and down Main Street, mainly on the West End. Musicians painting word pictures through song. Doors were closed to the cold, but warm, welcoming tunes leaked onto the sidewalk none-the-less. Food. Drink... all in just the first half hour of my visit.
Next Crawl: May 4th. Will we "see" you there?
