I was met last night by a strange man standing in the kitchen talking to my wife. Either he was trying to sell us something, or hold us hostage. They stopped talking as I entered and looked in my direction like they were waiting for me to make the next move.
Dan? Last time I saw my nephew was 6 years and a lot of hair ago at his wedding to Alison. He's still happily married. I thought about him the other day while balloon chasing past his neighborhood in Mukwonago. I'm told he still lives there, so maybe next time I'm in the area I should stop.
He was in Waukesha to get plates at the DMV for his "new" ride: a 1966 Mustang with 44,000 original miles on it. When he told me about it I couldn't believe it. It was in storage for 25 years and he actually drove it 100 miles already with just topping off the fluids? How old is that oil, hoses, antifreeze? I can't wait to see the car after he cleans it up. I'd love to see him in car shows. As a matter of fact, while gassing it up literally five minutes after purchasing it a woman stopped to invite him to enter a car show in Butler.
I'm glad I got off work when I did yesterday and didn't have plans. Dan and I spent a lot of quality time together, even going out to eat just the two of us. It truly was the first time in his 30 years we've spent together like that. It's sad it doesn't happen very often, but I'm real glad we had this opportunity.
