Tyranny?
Something very unusual happened April 15th. People gathered to protest something who normally never find the time to protest anything. Much has been said about the TEA parties across the country. Among many, both pro and con, are a few that stick in my mind. One is, "Obama won the election. Get over it!" Hmm, seems like people have said that to some all the years that George Bush was in office. Whether these statements are regarding the legitimacy of the past or current presidency, the subject of the TEA parties is about spending and the taxes to pay for that spending.
This leads me to another slogan. "Taxation without representation is Tyranny!" To that some say, "Those in power have been legally elected so like it or not, you are being represented."
Really? The spending being signed into law by the government is automatically throwing children into debt. Many children were in attendance of TEA parties holding signs saying, for example, "I'm only 3 years old and already owe $50,000 in taxes!" If spending stopped at what has been put into law, our great grandchildren will still be paying taxes to pay off the debt created, decades before they have been born. What representation have they? What choice in the matter do they have?
I look at it as if I bought a big house with a huge mortgage, say....60 years so I could afford the monthly payments. Then I maxed out my charge cards. Why should I worry about paying for all of it? I have children who can pick up the slack. All they have to do is enjoy their money a little less while they pay off Dad's years old debt. They can also put a bit of it on my grandchildren and even my great grandchildren.
Absurd? That is what government is doing NOW and people are beginning to wake up to that fact!
I have carefully looked up the definition of tyranny. Among the definitions are rule without opposition and also harshness in governance. What is being done in the government is every attempt to eliminate the minority party from impeding or even tempering legislation.
Is it tyranny? You decide. Is it irresponsible? Without any doubt.
