third year's a charm
It's been three years since the beginning of WaukeshaNOW and this blog. There's still plenty going on to share. The enjoyment I get from writing hasn't receeded, and as long the computer is working, and I still have the time, I'd like to continue.
Last June the big story was flooding. In the last year it's the economy that's affected us the most. After 22 years of commuting to Milwaukee, I now waste resources driving 35 miles to Racine Cty. for work. The Journal Sentinel laid off many more quality writers, and even MyCommunityNOW, this website, let half the staff go. The Waukesha Freeman discontinued carrier delivery and no longer prints a Monday edition. The state has a huge budget deficit. More money is going out to aid jobless and underemployed, but less coming in thanks to a stagnant economy.
This site has seen changes in the last year. I may have lost my first year and a quarter of postings, but gained the ability to easily attach videos. May have lost a convenient way to click on "tags" and check reader views, but pictures are now infinitely easier to size and add.
As in the last two blogiversaries, I'd like to mention my favorite post from the last year. Without a doubt, my favorite post was one of the last added, (and not just because posts just seem to keep getting better the more I do them.) My Next Thirty Years is my favorite post because of a father's pride for his son's accomplishment.
Some things, like graduation and hot air ballooning, are more fun if they're shared. Thanks for another year of letting me share.
