We Request the Honor of Your Presence...
With my own children having been out of high school for nearly a decade and myself obviously longer, I don't know if prom is such a big deal anymore; however, 'back in the day' the words, "Will you go to prom with me?" were the words nearly every girl dreamed about, obsessed over and longed to hear via the boy she had a crush on. With the school gymnasium or commons transformed into a magical place, it was as if for one night, the princesses in all the fairy tales were alive and they were you. And of course the boy who asked you was Prince Charming - well, sometimes.
For the young man, these words were often difficult to voice. Some young men spoke the words confidently, but I have my suspicion they were the exception. Most of the guys were shake-in-their-boots nervous. And there were even some who sent a scout, (i.e. a friend of the girl he liked) to see how the invitation would be received. If the scout returned with a negative report, the young man could save himself the embarrassment and total humiliation and not bother to ask the question at all.
Well, no matter what your experience, good or bad, recent or not; or, if you want to relive Prom Night Magic; or, if you were someone who longed to go to prom and never received an invitation - now's your chance because:
The Drama Department of Waukesha Civic Theatre requests the honor of your presence at its annual gala: That's Entertainment Celebrates Prom Night, Friday, April 23, 2010, 5:30 p.m., at Carroll University's Stackner Ballroom.
Bring a guest, or not. Tickets are sold individually. Tables of 8 & Sponsorships are also available, (a great way to promote a business while having a fabulous time having a fairy-tale evening.)
Break out those fancy duds. My prom dress was a full-length light blue dotted Swiss, with an empire waist & full skirt - whoo hoo! It's long gone, thank goodness, but if you're like me, you have something in your closet you just had to have for a wedding or another formal event and now you've another excuse to wear it.
Girls, the good news? You don't have to wait to be asked nor do you have to be escorted. Please, just come. And guys, some friendly advice - if the woman in your life likes this sort of thing even if you don't, earn yourself a few brownie points, (wink, wink), and please, ask her.
With the gala being WCT's annual fund-raising event; always an elegant evening of food, beverage, music and fun; this PIX FIX time promises to be a night you'll always remember. Join us, won't you?
