Tableside guacamole at Serrano's in Waukesha
The owners of Habanero’s Mexican Kitchen on Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa have opened Serrano’s Mexican Restaurant in Waukesha.
It’s at N7-W23825 Blue Mound Road, previously the site of Louis Desert Grill.
As at Habanero’s, Serrano’s makes guacamole tableside. On the menu are dishes such as steak with bell peppers, onion and tomato ($10.99) and shrimp and scallops on rice with melted cheese and tortillas ($11.99).
The restaurant will have about 14 tables for patio seating.
It’s open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday; a lunch menu is served until 2:30 p.m. To contact: (262) 542-9700.
24-year-old Waukesha man arrested in Chicago “high drug area,” charged with Vernon home burglary
A 24-year-old Waukesha man was charged Friday with allegedly breaking into his parent’s Town of Vernon home last year, stealing electronics, jewelry, credit cards, and ammunition. Some of the items, including 200 rounds of .22 caliber rifle ammunition, were eventually recovered in a Chicago “high drug area.”
Andrew A. Kedzierski was charged on June 14 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with party to the crime of burglary (repeater), which carries a maximum sentence of more than 18 years in prison, $25,000 in fines, or both.
Kedzierski pleaded guilty in 2011 to possession of narcotics drugs, a felony for which he was sentenced to three years probation.

A 41-year-old Waukesha man was charged last week with allegedly arguing (loudly) on behalf of one of America’s lesser known freedoms: the right of a man to love a goat.
Shaun Keith Orris was charged on June 13 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct, allegedly asking strangers outside a bar: “Do you think it’s right to [expletive] a goat.”
Its an issue that perhaps demands attention after half-a-dozen beers and a couple shots, which allegedly prompted Shaun Keith Orris’ prurient outburst.
According to the criminal complaint, Waukesha City Police were dispatched at 2:45 a.m. June 13 to Waukesha’s Montecito Ristorante Lounge, 257 West Broadway, after receiving a call from Orris complaining he was “battered and bloodied” for asking strangers his strange question.
The owner of Montecito told police that Orris had been drinking heavily and began asking other patrons whether they believed it was their constitutional right to have sex with a goat, according to the complaint.

A 31-year-old Waukesha man is being held on a $15,000 cash bond, having been charged Friday for the second time in less than a year with allegedly stealing a vehicle from Waukesha’s International Autos, Inc.
Robert E. Frea was charged on June 14 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, defrauding a gas station and two counts of felony bail jumping.
Frea was charged in September with burglary and in November he was charged with vehicle theft. In both cases Frea entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity and he was released on a $500 cash bond.
According to the criminal complaint, City of Waukesha Police were dispatched April 9 to International Autos, 2230 East Moreland Boulevard, after receiving reports of suspicious activity.
An employee told police that an employee had noticed that a Honda Civic belonging to Frea seemed to have been moved overnight. The employees were warned to keep an eye on the vehicle because it belonged to Frea, according to the complaint. Frea had allegedly taken a vehicle last year, but had returned it, the employee told police.

Woodman's Food Market on the City of Waukesha's northeast side opened Friday morning, Clint Woodman said.
Woodman said the opening is five days ahead of its originally scheduled June 19 opening.
"Everything was ready," Woodman said. "We were ready with the registers and the store was well-stocked."
Scrima's Pizza, located inside the store, also opened Friday, Woodman said.
Customers coming into the store, located at 1600 E. Main St., at certain locations will have to deal with road construction taking place.

A 59-year-old Waukesha man was charged last week with child enticement, allegedly kissing and hugging a 10-year-old girl and asking her friends to get in his car.
Gregory S. Davis was charged on Wednesday, June 13 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with child enticement, a felony which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, $100,000 in fines, or both.
According to the criminal complaint, City of Waukesha Police were dispatched at about 3:30 p.m. June 10 to 2834 St. Andrews Court in the City of Waukesha after receiving reports of a child enticement incident.
A jogger told police that he was in the area of Rolling Ridge Drive when two girls waived him down from behind some trees. One of the girls, 10, was clearly shaken, according to the complaint.
The 10-year-old said that she was walking with another girl and two boys when a man pulled up in a red SUV. The man hugged and kissed her on the mouth, telling her that he loved her and wanted her and her friends to come home with him, the complaint reads.

Town of Waukesha supervisors can continue to use video conference methods to attend meetings.
After a contentious discussion four and a half hours into Thursday night's joint Plan Commission and Board meeting, the Town Board voted 3-2 to reject a motion that would have required board members to be physically present during meetings.
This has become a hot topic of late as new Town chairman John Marek pledged to remove the notion of a 'cyber supervisor' during his campaign earlier this year.
Supervisors in the town have had the opportunity to attend meetings via Skype where a computer screen is set up at the front of the room so they can see and hear what is taking place at meetings.
A few of the board members have utilized the technology when they are not able to attend a meeting.

A 25-year-old Waukesha man was charged last week with stalking an ex-girlfriend, allegedly sending 20 emails a day, leaving flowers in her car and following her home from work.
The man, who will not be named to protect the alleged victim, was charged on June 12 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with stalking, a felony for which he could face more than three years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint, the man’s ex-girlfriend reported to police that between May 24 and June 10 the man had been harassing her, causing her to fear for her life.
She said that a few days after the breakup, she began receiving up to 20 emails a day from her ex-boyfriend. She agreed to speak to him about their breakup, but when she wanted to leave he physically tried to stop her, according to the complaint.
Later that night, She said he allegedly went into her garage and left flowers in her car, the complaint reads.

The Waukesha Police Department still searching for the suspect in Wednesday afternoon's armed robbery at Summit Credit Union, 2140 W. St Paul Ave., on the city's southwest side.
But the department released another photo of the suspect and a video of him entering the bank at around 2:45 p.m.
The video shows the man cover a majority of his face upon entering the bank, while bringing out a handgun as he approached the bank teller.
According to a news release issued by Capt. Ron Oremus of the Waukesha Police Department, the suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s.
After he displayed the handgun, he demanded money.

Ybarra steps down as District 5 alderman
For Paul Ybarra, stepping down as the District 5 alderman this week came down to finding balance.
"It's just coming down to time and needing to prioritize," Ybarra said.
Ybarra announced his resignation on Monday after seven years serving the district.
He said he was recently given a "more substantial responsibility" as the vice president of sales for Tangoe, a global software company.
"I have responsibilities for our European and Middle East operations which has required a lot of global travel for me," Ybarra said. "It's become challenging to balance the 50 to 70 hours I work there, along with trying to be a good father and responsible family man, in general."

A Waukesha man was sentenced to two concurrent 12-year-prison sentences Monday for the heroin overdose deaths of a man and a woman, according to court records.
Kevin S. Cobus, 27, was also sentenced to two concurrent eight-year terms on extended supervision in the deaths of Jamie L. Hansen, 24, of Muskego, and Cody C. Riggs, 26, of Delafield, according to the records.
Cobus was convicted April 4 of two counts of first-degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs.
He had been accused of supplying heroin to Hansen, who died July 12, 2011, and Riggs, who died Jan. 6, 2011.
Merrill Hills has been sold to The Legend
The Legend has entered into an agreement to purchase Merrill Hills Country Club, Legend owner Jack Gaudion said Friday.
According to a report filed by Town of Waukesha Planner Roger Dupler, Merrill Hills Country Club will be renamed The Legend at Merrill Hills.
Gaudion said the transaction is set to close within two weeks.
And according to Town of Waukesha agenda items for its joint meeting of the Plan Commission and Town Board next Thursday, Gaudion is petitioning to seek approval of a conditional use to allow a public commercial golf course with banquet and related facilities at The Legend at Merrill Hills LLC.
The Plan Commission will then discuss and take action on the conditional use and plan of operation after the hearing.

Zachary E. Cunningham was charged on June 6 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with resisting an officer and disorderly conduct, allegedly cursing out a police officer outside Bosco’s Social Club.
Cunningham, 21, allegedly yelled, “[expletive] you pig,” at a patrolling Waukesha Police Department officer shortly after midnight on June 1.
When the officer confronted Cunningham and asked him for identification, he allegedly became combative, telling the officer: “I could say whatever the [expletive] I want, it’s called freedom of speech.”
The officer called in back up and Cunnginham was handcuffed. While in the backseat of the squad car, he allegedly continued to curse out the officers and tried to kick out a squad car window. He was further restrained with leg straps and a spit shield.
Cunningham could face up to a year in prison, $11,000 in fines, or both, if convicted.

A jury of 11 women and one man found Billy J. Ingram guilty of slaying Nayyer Rana, a Waukesha gas station employee shot and killed in May 2012 during a botched armed robbery.
The decision came after almost five hours of deliberation and five days of litigation, during which the defense tried to cast doubts about key pieces of evidence, including the murder weapon.
Ingram’s mother Janice Lang flew up from Mississippi for the trial, where she works as an elementary school teacher.
“I prayed about it,” she said. “I am a true Christian woman and I know he did not do this.”
Lang said that she sympathized with Rana’s family, having recently lost family members herself through gun violence, but she said her son was not a killer.

City of Waukesha Alderman Paul Ybarra said he's looking forward to moving forward in the city's application for Great Lakes water.
And the city will be doing this with the Town of Waukesha in its water and sewer service planning area as it voted unanimously to include the town Tuesday night.
The Common Council's approval comes a week-and-a-half after the Town of Waukesha voted to be included in the city's future water service area on May 23.
The approval is based on a letter the town board approved that says all high capacity shallow aquifer wells in the town operated by the city including the Lathers wells are to be abandoned upon a successful application for Great Lakes water and the town also retains the right to enter into negotiations with the Village of Big Bend for treatment services for town property.
The inclusion is also conditional based only if the city is successful in obtaining a Great Lakes Diversion.
