Primary shows Thieme has firm grasp on District 1 seat
But Myers will challenge incumbent in General Election April 2
If Tuesday's primary results are any indication, it appears Terry Thieme is going to be tough to beat.
The District 1 incumbent was the top vote getter in the aldermanic primary, having received 241 of the 362 votes, about 67 percent of the vote.
His opponent in the April 2 General Election will be Mark Myers, who edged out John Holst for second-place in the three-person race.
Myers, a non denominational pastor, received 61 votes, while Holst, a home improvement contractor, had 57 votes. There were three write-in votes.
While this is the first time Myers, 44, is running for an aldermanic seat, Holst unsuccessfully ran against Thieme in 2009.
Thieme, 56, is a retired police officer and served 14 years in the United States Marine Corps.
