Police Report: July 4
Information taken from reports filed by the Waukesha Police Department
1 A caller at 1019 Delafield St. called police at 12:37 a.m. June 26 to report her unlocked vehicle was entered, backpack and credit card taken. She said the credit card had already been used.
2 A fight was reported at 232 Harrison Ave., behind the Speedway, at 10:41 p.m. June 25. A man was reportedly swinging a golf club at another man.
3 A gas runoff was reported at 12:21 p.m. June 25 at 1635 Main St.
4 Storms knocked down a tree at Kensington Drive and Macarthur Road. The tree was reported in the road at 6:51 a.m. June 25. Waukesha County Department of Public works was contacted to remove the tree.
5 A caller at 620 Progress Ave. reported at 6:26 a.m. June 25 that a bucket truck had been broken into.
6 A caller reported suspicious activity at Oakland Avenue and East Main Street at 10:48 p.m. June 26. The caller said a man was "rapping loudly on the corner." They said the man then got on the bus, but returned to the same spot 30 minutes later and they thought that was strange.
7 A caller reported a group of juveniles were lighting picnic tables on fire at 1001 N. Grandview Blvd. at 9:05 p.m. June 26. Police contacted the teens who admitted to lighting an item on fire, but there were no signs of damage to the table. The teens were advised and were told they were no longer welcome at Grandview Park.
8 A house at 2921 Coventry Lane was reported burglarized at 8:59 p.m. June 26. The caller said a rifle, lawnmower and vodka were missing.
9 A caller reported a man at 308 S. Moreland Blvd. was attempting to break in a car with a wire coat hanger at 4:42 p.m. June 26. Turns out the man was trying to help a neighbor who locked the keys in the car.
10 A caller at 1600 E. Sunset Drive reported theft of a credit card at 11:58 a.m. June 26. They said the card has been used to make purchases of up to $150.
11 Police were dispatched to a pavilion on fire at 101 E. Garfield Ave. at 10:17 p.m. June 27. The fire was contained in less than 10 minutes and a report was created for arson.
12 Fraud was reported at 6:58 p.m. June 27. A woman at 151 E. St. Paul Ave. contacted police for advice on a possible scam. She said she received a check from the YMCA in Milwaukee for $1,600 that she could not identify, but she cashed the check at Waukesha State Bank in Pewaukee taking $800 in cash on June 24. On June 25, she withdrew $700 cash, but later received a call from the bank that the check bounced. The bank stated they believe the check was fraudulent.
13 A caller reported a theft in progress at 1119 Anoka Ave. at 5:04 p.m. June 30. They reported two men taking items from the backyard of the home which is for sale. Police contacted the men who were hired by the bank foreclosing on the home to remove the items and clean up the property. According to the dispatch log this continues to be a problem with neighbors who call the police every time the company has workers out. The officer introduced the caller to the workers, "and encouraged dialogue between the three of them so everyone is on the same page!!!" reads the report.
14 A shopper at Walmart, 2000 S. West Ave., called police at 3:58 p.m. June 30 after her purse was taken out of her shopping cart. The caller said they were stranded because their car keys were in the purse. The purse was later recovered but a check, debit card and cash was missing.
15 A caller at 1809 Sheperd Court reported theft at 2:44 p.m. June 28. The caller said she saw a female take a top from the laundry room.
16 Theft of construction equipment — a fork and a bucket — was reported at 7:04 p.m. July 1 at 1245 Champman Drive. The caller said the suspect used another piece of equipment to load the items on a vehicle.
17 A man was robbed at 6:24 p.m. July 1 at 329 Bidwell Ave. He said three men approached him and grabbed a bag with his money it in. He said they threatened him and ran off toward a playground.
18 A man was taken into custody for disorderly conduct after threatening an employee at Marco's Pizza, 139 E. Broadway, at 3:02 p.m. July 1. The caller said a man got angry with her over the phone because she could not hear him and asked him to repeat himself. She said the man told her, "Once I get down there, you will not be able to walk out the door." The man showed up and later fled, but police caught up to him at 801 N. East Ave. and after threatening to use a Taser were able to take him into custody.
19 Theft of a concrete fox from 1200 W. Sunset Drive was reported at 1:07 p.m. July 1.
20 A woman called police at 11:32 a.m. July 1 from 1400 Nike Drive to report a suspicious person. She said while she was in a store a man approached her and took a photo under her skirt. When she asked to see the photo the male said, "Oh sorry I bumped into you" and left.
