'Angels' help new dancers get squared away
Have you ever thought it might be fun to learn how to square dance? Don't those women in their stiff wide skirts and the men with the bolo ties look like they are having a good time as they do-si-do around the floor?
The fact is: They are.
Jean Reifenberg of Waukesha's Spring City Squares would love to see more people join the club, which is already 70 strong.
A good way to do that is to come to this Monday's free lesson at 6:30 p.m. at the Goodwill Community Clubhouse on Main Street and Nike Drive. Newcomers learn the dances with the help of club members who are called 'angels."
New members also are always welcome to attend the club's regular dances which are 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturdays the first and third Saturdays of the month at Trinity Lutheran Church 1052 White Rock Ave.
"It's always open to everyone," said Jean. "Just come and watch. It's a good way for people to see what square dancing is all about. It's not just for couples We have singles, families. It's a nice mix of people."
