Waukesha - A 28-year-old Waukesha man was charged Jan. 11 in Waukesha County Circuit Court for allegedly setting a car on fire and attempting to set a house on fire in Waukesha Dec. 31.
Quentin T. Morgan was charged with felony counts of attempted arson of a building, arson of property other than a building, and second-degree reckless endangerment.
According to the criminal complaint, Morgan, who lived with his girlfriend, Brittany Rudolph, at 1080 Whiterock Ave., had an argument during the early morning hours of Dec. 31. Morgan went to a bar with others and when he returned he found Rudolph was not in their upstairs apartment and he went into the lower unit and "barged" in and found Rudolph with Tiffany Pease, who lives in that unit, the complaint said.
Morgan allegedly grabbed their dog, causing it to yelp, the complaint said. When Rudolph confronted Morgan he allegedly hit Rudolph in the face, as well as another woman who was in the apartment.
During a pushing match between Rudolph and Morgan, a friend of Rudolph's said she was calling the police and Morgan then threatened to blow the house up, the complaint said. "I'm going to start it on fire," Morgan allegedly said, according to the complaint.
Morgan was witnessed leaving the house and Pease said she saw flames coming from her 1998 Mercury Mountaineer, which was parked at the rear of the residence. Pease yelled at her friends to get out of the house and then she heard a door slam and saw Morgan run to the top of the stairs, the complaint said. Morgan was located by police in the upstairs unit, the complaint said.
Morgan denied any wrong doing saying he simply came home and went to bed, the complaint said.
The fire in the vehicle, which was totaled, spread to the rear of the building up to the second floor, the complaint said.
Another small fire apparently had been started in the basement of the house, the complaint said. Morgan's wallet was found in the basement, the complaint said.
