United Way in Waukesha County and The Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee are seeking nominations for the "Inspire by Example" Volunteer Awards. The awards recognize individuals and groups who have performed outstanding volunteer service within their respective community over the past year. The nomination deadline is Friday, Jan. 31.
Nominations are sought within six categories:
Volunteer of the Year, presented to an individual, or couple, who has provided exemplary volunteer service to a nonprofit organization within Waukesha County
Youth Volunteer of the Year, presented to a high school student who has provided exemplary volunteer service to a nonprofit organization within Waukesha County
Group Volunteers of the Year, presented to a team of three or more volunteers (adults, youth, or combination) that has initiated and implemented a project or program with benefits to a community within Waukesha County
Business Partner of the Year, presented to a business that has mobilized a group of employee volunteers to help with an exemplary project or program in a community within Waukesha County
Bruce Gill Executive Volunteer (Legacy Award), presented to person who has a long history of outstanding service to the community and has exhibited dedication to their profession or industry
Community Leader (Legacy Award), presented to a person who has a long history of outstanding service to our community and inspires others to lead by example
A panel of community leaders will review all nominations and select one winner per county for each of the six award categories who "Inspires by Example." The Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee will present its awards at a luncheon April 3 at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee, and United Way in Waukesha County will present awards at a luncheon April 8 at the Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee. The winners within each award category will be awarded $500 payable to the winners' choice of designated nonprofit.
