Jan. 17, 2012 | 0 comments

Waukesha - Three men were charged Jan. 9 for a series of armed robberies in late December and early January.

Angel E. Diaz, 19, and Thomas J. Dorner, 19, both of Waukesha were charged for allegedly committing armed robberies Dec. 22, Jan. 5 and Jan. 6. Elijawon E. Johnson, 19, also of Waukesha, was charged for allegedly participating in the Jan. 5 and 6 robberies.

According to the criminal complaint:

Diaz and Dorner are accused of approaching a female employee at Discfunktion, 910 Sunset Drive, Waukesha, Dec. 22 at about 8:21 a.m. as she had just left the business and locked up.

Holding a black handgun, Dorner forced her to go back into the store and fill up a backpack with money from the cash register. As Dorner was leaving Diaz showed up and they both ran off. The employee said about $1,300 in cash was taken.

Diaz told police on Jan. 5, that he, Dorner and Johnson went to a Citgo station in New Berlin, but decided against robbing the business.

Diaz said they then went to the Stop 'n Go store, 910 W. St. Paul Ave., Waukesha, at about 11:30 p.m. and Dorner and Johnson went into the store, each carrying BB pistols, and stole $202. Diaz drove the getaway vehicle.

Diaz said on Jan. 6, they went back to the Citgo station in New Berlin on College Avenue and again Dorner and Johnson went into the store and Diaz was the getaway driver and about $700 was stolen.

A witness got the license plate number of the vehicle which led police to Dorner's residence on Baird Street. Video surveillance from Discfunktion matched the description of the mini van at the New Berlin gas station.
