Catholic Memorial takes silver ball

Catholic Memorial came within a single match of defending its WIAA Division 2 state soccer championship but fell in Saturday's state final at Uihlein Field in Milwaukee to Mount Horeb, 1-0.
Mark Samuel scored twice in the team's 2-0 win over Fox Valley Lutheran in Friday's semifinal, giving the Crusaders a fifth consecutive visit to the title game. Aaron Horvat and Mitchell Krismer had assists.
Mount Horeb out-shot the Crusaders, 13-6, scoring in the 31st minute when Patrick Ruhland took an assist from Aaron Fargo. Memorial goalie Ryan Zingsheim made four saves.
CMH has been to state seven times, with four runner-up finishes and one title.
