The Gander Mountain store in Waukesha, seen in this 2007 photo, replaced a smaller store in Brookfield.

Hunting, fishing and outdoor gear retailer Gander Mountain has begun a store-by-store sell-off of its inventory -- part of the St. Paul, Minn.-based company's bankruptcy proceeding.

Gander Mountain has 160 stores, including 13 in Wisconsin. Milwaukee-area stores are in Waukesha, Franklin and Germantown.

A group of liquidation companies bought the Gander Mountain inventory in a bankruptcy auction. Camping World Holdings Inc., which operates a network of stores catering to recreational vehicle owners, was the winning bidder on other Gander Mountain assets.
