Waukesha School District discusses age restriction for prom guests

Ava Tarintino, a Waukesha West High School student received acceptance of a date for prom via Twitter from Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell.

Waukesha School District issued a statement early Tuesday that read, "The West High School Administration had no knowledge prior to the local media story.

For the safety and appropriateness of student guests at prom, high schools in the School District of Waukesha have an age limit of under 20 years old. This rule has been in place for decades with no exceptions. Administrators are currently reviewing this request before responding."

On Saturday, Tarintino tweeted Bell, "500 rts and you'll go to prom w me."  Bell replied and said 600 and its a deal. Later that same evening Tarintino met the goal. Bell responded on Twitter, "welllll, a deal is a deal see youu at your prom."

The school district released another statement on Tuesday afternoon that said they are working on a solution with the principal and the family that won't cause an exception to the age rule.

The district won't know details until they learn more about Bell's expected arrival and departure time.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, Le’Veon Bell and Tarintino couldn't be reached for comment.
