WAUKESHA - Noted historic preservationists Mary Emory and Bob and Lisa Salb will receive merit awards at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, in the City Hall Common Council Chambers, 201 Delafield St.

Emery of the Waukesha Preservation League will receive the John Schoenknecht Spirit of Preservation Award for her work to save from demolition the building that once housed the Moor Mud Baths/Grand View Health Resort.

The building owned by Waukesha County was used for health and human services before being closed and replaced by a new nearby structure.

The county wants to raze the former Mud Baths that has fallen into disrepair. Preservationists want the building saved and re-purposed.

The Salbs will be awarded the landmark's Certificate of Merit Award  for their dedication to preserving the historic Sen. William Blair house, 434 Madison St. The Salbs say they want to convert a portion of the structure to a bed-and-breakfast.

The event is before the city's regular common council meeting.
