A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 15 after he was struck by a train near Carroll Street and North East Avenue, just a few blocks north of Carroll University.

Waukesha police said the man was in his 30s and could be homeless. The severity of his injuries remain unknown. Police had not responded to a request for additional comment as of Tuesday evening.

The train stopped after hitting the man around 1:30 p.m., according to a police report, and was blocking intersections at least a half mile south of the collision, to West Avenue, in the immediate aftermath of the incident, a witness said.

Bystanders said the area was swarmed with police and emergency vehicles shortly after the collision. However, all emergency personnel had cleared out of the area by about an hour later. The train had also moved on by then.

No additional information was immediately available.
