Waukesha police announced on Nov. 22 the release of a homeless registered sex offender named Stanley R. Blodgett.
According to a news release, Blodgett, a 71-year-old lifetime sex offender registrant, was scheduled to meet "extensively" with the state Department of Corrections upon his release and will be under GPS monitoring.
"We want to make sure that the community remains vigilant and ensure they fully understand the seriousness of this offender, especially since he will not have permanent housing upon release," said Waukesha County Sheriff's Department Lieutenant Philip Carini in the release.
Blodgett was convicted of two counts of first-degree sexual assault of child under age 13 in 1996, online court records show. The release said he was also convicted of crimes in 1963 and 1981, but it's unclear what those convictions were for.
The release encourages residents seeking more information about Blodgett and other homeless offenders to use the DOC's sex offender registry website, http://offender.doc.state.wi.us/public/.
