An 8-year-old boy told Waukesha police he thought his father was dead, possibly from a heroin overdose, while the two of them were sitting in a parked car at the Waukesha School District office Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 25.

According to a police report, the incident occurred around 5:41 p.m. that day. Another adult became aware of the commotion, took the phone from the boy and directed police to the scene at 222 Maple Ave., the report said.

The man was unconscious and slumped over the steering wheel when the unidentified adult arrived, the report said, but had a pulse and was breathing. Emergency personnel removed him from the vehicle without incident and noted he was "somewhat alert" at the time.

According to the report, the incident was "heroin related," and could have been an overdose. No one was injured.

However, the man was rushed to the hospital and later arrested, the report said. His son was taken to the Waukesha County Department of Health and Human Services.

The report did not specify whether the man was a Waukesha resident, but said his son lives here with his mother in the 1800 block of Shepherd Court.

Online court records indicate no criminal charges have been filed against the man as of Friday afternoon, Jan. 27.
