Daniel Lesniewski received his fifth operating while intoxicated charge Wednesday evening.

A Muskego man pulled over after dropping his wife off at Waukesha County's work release jail was charged Thursday with his 10th drunken driving offense.

According to a criminal complaint, Daniel Lesniewski, 51, was dropping off his wife at the Huber Facility on Wednesday when someone at the facility notified the Sheriff's Department that he appeared to be intoxicated. A deputy pulled him over about 6:45 p.m. on Delafield St. at Irving Place in Waukesha.

As the deputy approached the vehicle, it appeared Lesniewski was attempting to remove his Wisconsin ID. The deputy said it took the man a minute and a half to successfully hand over his ID. The deputy noted a strong odor of alcohol.

The driver denied consuming any alcohol that day but admitted to taking prescribed oxycodone and gabapentin.

The deputy asked Lesniewski to step out of his vehicle to perform a series of sobriety tests. Lesniewski failed all tests — horizontal gaze, walk and turn, one leg stand, alphabet and counting numbers. His breath test of 0.22 was nearly triple the level of 0.08 considered evidence of intoxication.
