Exactly 69 years since Archbishop Moses E. Kiley broke ground to begin construction of Catholic Memorial High School on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1948, work on another key piece of the campus has begun.

CMH broke ground on the new Our Lady of Memorial Chapel, the capstone project of the Crusading for Excellence Campaign. This new prayer and worship space will be used for the sacramental benefit of the entire Catholic Memorial family.

“The Our Lady of Memorial Chapel will highlight an exceptional environment in which to form disciples,” said the Rev. Paul Hartmann, CMH president, in a press release. “Putting the new chapel front and center of the campus showcases our commitment to Catholic identity and to one another. Catholic Memorial High School is a place where students receive a values-rich education as we fulfill our mission to educate, guide, and prepare students to serve the church and the world.”

The chapel is the final phase of the Crusading for Excellence Campaign; it follows the Academic Resource Center, the new turf football field, seven innovative and interactive classrooms called the Innovation Wing, new lockers throughout the school, energy efficient window replacements, and air conditioning.

Since 2013, almost $11 million has been raised as part of this campaign.

Moore Construction Services was selected to serve as general contractor, and Eppstein Uhen Architects was selected to design all the projects of the campaign. The new chapel is expected to be ready for use by winter 2018.
