No one was injured when a fire broke out at the Waukesha Iron and Metal scrap yard on Saturday, March 13.
Fire Marshal Brian Charlesworth said a cause of the fire, which began around 2 p.m. on Saturday, is still unknown.
Charlesworth said the facility had closed for the day already so no employees were present when the fire started.
The fire ignited quickly and smoke could be seen billowing into the air. Charlesworth said there light winds and while thick, black smoke traveled into the air, there was no public health hazard.
This was the second time within a year a fire started at the scrap yard, 1351 E. Main St., Waukesha. Charlesworth, however, said this past weekend's fire was "much smaller" than in 2015.
