launches recycling app

Waukesha County Recycles is a new smartphone app that offers residents information about proper recycling and disposal of a wide variety of household items.

The county contracted with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's App Brewery to develop the app. It provides detailed information on what and how to recycle items, where to take items, along with navigation to the selected location.

Residents can download the free app in the App Store or Google Play Store.

County executive hires

press secretary

Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow has welcomed a new press secretary and public information officer to his staff. Nicole Armendariz has been hired to enhance public awareness and engagement regarding Waukesha County events and initiatives.

Since 2013, Armendariz served as a senior communications specialist for Atkins North America, a global engineering and design consultancy. Armendariz was also a broadcast journalist for six years, producing newscasts at television stations across the Midwest, including Milwaukee.
