Waukesha author Kathie Giorgio will be the guest of honor at an event hosted by the Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha.
The fundraiser will support the book festival, which is entering its seventh year.
The event coincides with this month's release of Giorgio's latest books: 'Oddities and Endings: The Collected Stories of Kathie Giorgio' and 'True Light Falls in Many Forms,' Giorgio's first chapbook of poetry to be published. Both books have been released by Giorgio's longtime publisher Main Street Rag Publishing Co. Main Street Rag recently won Mid-American Review's Best Small Press Award.
The evening includes a reception for Giorgio followed by a program featuring an interview with the author conducted by Stephanie Lecci, formerly of WUWM's 'Lake Effect.' A book signing will immediately follow the program.
Tickets for the event are $35 per person (includes a copy of each book) or $20 per person for the event only. To purchase tickets, visit the Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books website at www.sewibookfest.com or tinyurl.com/h22xfhe.
Giorgio's short stories and poems have appeared in Prairie Schooner, Fiction International and Harpur Palate, among others. She was nominated for the 2014 Write Well Award, the Million Writer Award, the Best of the Net anthology and has been interviewed in Poets & Writers.
Her first novel, 'The Home for Wayward Clocks,' earned the Wisconsin Library Association's Outstanding Achievement Award. She is the director/founder of AllWriters' Workplace and Workshop, an international creative writing studio.
