Residents on the northwest side of Waukesha now have another gas station and convenience store option at their disposal.
A new Kwik Trip at 2001 Golf Road is scheduled to have its grand opening Sept. 6, according to a news release. The station, originally proposed in March 2015, sits on about 8.5 acres near the southwest corner of Golf Road and Grandview Boulevard, just north of Interstate 94.
The company is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to noon the day of the grand opening and will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony around 11 a.m. The site will be open 24 hours a day, according to plans submitted to the city.
The new station will become the fourth Kwik Trip station in Waukesha. There is one Kwik Trip just south of the new station at 2530 N Grandview Blvd.
Concerns about traffic near the station, which stands between two county trunk highways – Highways T and DR – initially halted the approval process for the station, but the project was ultimately green-lighted by city officials.
Troy Mleziva, a real estate development manager with Kwik Trip, has said the new station won't be a full-service truck stop like some of the company's other locations.
The store is expected to have between 15 and 20 full- and part-time employees with two to eight on staff at any given time.
