Katelyn Rothschadl, 14, an incoming freshman at Waukesha West High School, has been named one of the top piano student composers in the state by the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA).
She submitted an original musical composition titled “Tides” to the 2016 WSMA Student Composition Project. The project was created to provide opportunities for the encouragement of artistic abilities of Wisconsin students.
Katelyn has been taking piano lessons for about eight years under the direction of Carol Chapman. A recent student at Butler Middle School, Katelyn also plays the French horn, bass guitar, acoustic and electric guitar and plays mellophone in the marching band.
She was honored at the Student Composition Awards Reception on Aug. 20 at WCME in Waunakee.
