La Casa de Esperanza will sponsor a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Weatherization Assistance Program Oct. 28.
La Casa operates the Weatherization Assistance Program in Jefferson, Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties, weatherizing 1,000 homes per year. The work provides solutions to reduce heavy energy burdens on families. Homes weatherized by La Casa de Esperanza have seen energy costs go down $350 per year (on average).
Weatherization Day is an annual opportunity to recognize that low income households spend a disproportionate percentage of their income on home energy bills, and that weatherization programs reduce energy costs so residents can better balance their budgets, according to a news release from La Casa.
La Casa, 410 Arcadian Ave., Waukesha, will host a free, community-wide event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 28 for families and individuals to help them gain knowledge and resources for getting their home ready for the winter and reduce their utility bill. Several community partners will be present to demonstrate money-saving tips; light refreshments will be provided.
