Blair Elementary School Dean of Students Tahereh DeLeon has been nominated for the 2016-17 LifeChanger of the Year Award.

Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, the national LifeChanger of the Year program recognizes the best kindergarten through twelfth grade public and private school educators and employees across the United States.

DeLeon was nominated by Blair Elementary School Principal Aida Cruz-Farin. A native of Nicaragua, DeLeon moved to the United States in the second grade, and attended Blair Elementary School as a child. DeLeon become a teacher at the school after receiving her master's in education at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

There will be 15 individual LifeChanger of the Year awards, with a national grand prize of $10,000. The top five winners will be honored at an awards ceremony in Naples, Florida. Winners will be announced in Spring 2017.
