Donors can receive discounts at downtown businesses
Local residents can give a little to get a little - for themselves and the community - this holiday season.
The Waukesha Downtown Business Association recently announced a fundraising campaign to assist the Silver Bells community group, which organizes several holiday-themed events in the city from mid-November to the end of December.
According to WDBA Treasurer Collete Tiarks, everyone who donates $25 or more to the campaign will receive a “Holiday Savings Gift Card” redeemable for 10 percent off purchases at more than 15 participating businesses downtown.
A portion of the contributions made to the crowdfunding campaign will be donated to local charitable organizations and help support the Silver Bells community activities.
Donations can be made through the Silver Bells website, www.waukeshasilverbells.com, Tiarks said.
If a donor hits the the $25 mark, he or she will receive the gift card as a receipt that will include a list of the participating locations where the card can be used, according to a news release. Those locations include Allô! Chocolat, Almont Gallery, Antiques and Uniques on Main, The Crest Pub and Grill, Fruits of the Spirit Candles, The Little Swiss Clock Shop, Martha Merrell’s Books, Toys, and Gifts, Meli, Mia Famiglia's 225 South, Mia’s Italian Cuisine, People’s Park, The Picky Picky Resale Shop, Plowshare Fair Trade Marketplace, Roots Coffee bar, Stroke of Genius and Van Bier Salon.
The card is good for 10 percent off purchases of $10 or more, the release said, and is valid from Nov. 28 - Dec. 23. The card cannot be combined with additional coupons or promotions, and some other restrictions may apply.
The Silver Bells events include a tree-lighting ceremony that is co-hosted with the Waukesha Chamber of Commerce, window decorating contest, horse drawn carriage rides, pictures with Santa and more.
