Waukesha organizations are among the more than 40 area community organizations, colleges and universities throughout eastern Wisconsin that will be awarded a total of $5 million in grants by the Aurora Health Care Better Together Fund.

The funds will help improve access to primary care, behavioral health and sexual assault and domestic violence prevention services.

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation is aiding in the administration of the grants.

Waukesha organizations that received grants include: The Women’s Center, $17,431 to hire a community educator, two youth counselors and provide education to youths on sexual assault violence prevention; Lad Lake, $86,207 to hire a full-time coordinator for sexually exploited youth (trafficking survivors) and offer a specialized day program for trafficking survivors and expand staff training; Carroll University, $100,000 to add staff resources to fight sexual assault violence and improve staff response to student victims.
