Plowshare Fair Trade Marketplace and Education for Peace Center on Main Street in Waukesha awarded the fourth annual Kate Delaney Jolin Peacebuilder Awards Friday, March 10, at Plowshare's 28th Anniversary Celebration in the Carroll University Ballroom.
The individual award recipient was Iva Richards for her involvement with Ventures in People (Helping Haitians Help Themselves), SOPHIA and Ascension Lutheran Church’s refugee resettlement and mission outreach programs.
The Peacebuilder Group award was presented to The Women’s Center for its mission to provide safety, shelter and support to women and their families affected by domestic violence.
A special tribute to remember Plowshare Fair Trade Marketplace Board President Sally Jo Michalko, who died Nov. 20, 2016, was shared by her friend, Diane Voit.
The Plowshare Annual Volunteer Recognition Award was named in Michalko's memory. The first recipient of the award was Ron Spitz for his involvement with the Waukesha Farmers' Market booth.
