Plan commission to review project March 22

The proposed Duluth Trading Company store is back on the city's agenda.

Waukesha's Plan Commission on March 22 is expected to review final site and architectural plans for the 15,500-square-foot store, which would be situated in the south end of the parking lot of The Home Depot, 2320 Bluemound Road, on the city's northeast side.

The review comes just two weeks after the commission approved preliminary design plans for the project on a 4-1 vote. City staff and commissioners said at the time that the plans still needed a little tweaking.

A representative from Minnesota-based Oppidan Investment Company, the project's developer, has twice suggested that if approval of the plans continues to be delayed, Duluth Trading will begin looking for a new place to build the store.

The project was first discussed publicly at a commission meeting in early February.

According to a preliminary agenda, the commission will also discuss and act on request for a conditional-use permit for the Waukesha County Museum redevelopment project.

The meeting is scheduled to begin around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
