University of Wisconsin‑Waukesha professor of English Cassandra Phillips was recognized by the Board of Regents with a 2017 Teaching Excellence Award.

The award is the University of Wisconsin System’s highest recognition for members of its faculty and academic staff and has a monetary value of $5,000.

A faculty member at UW-Waukesha since 2000, Phillips played a crucial role in creating a two-year writing program designed to support under-prepared students who are transitioning to college-level reading, writing and research, according to a news release.
