A CBS News reporter was detained by law enforcement while covering a protest that broke out Friday night following the cancellation of a Donald Trump rally in Chicago.

CBS News' Sopan Deb was covering the clash between protesters and the Republican front-runners supporters when the detainment happened, the news organization said.

"We are awaiting more information on the circumstances and will continue to update our report," the outlet said on its site.

Deb is covering the Trump campaign, according to his Twitter profile.

Before CBS reported his detainment, Deb tweeted from the scene, "I've never seen anything like what I'm witnessing in my life."
