Poll: President Trump's approval rating hits a new low

Two months after the inauguration, Donald Trump's job approval rating has hit a new low, according to a new poll.

The Gallup poll found 37% of Americans approve of how the president is doing his job. Comparatively, 58% disapprove of how Trump is handling the presidency.

The numbers are based on responses from about 1,500 adults with an error margin of 3 points.

The poll, reported on Friday, came amid Trump standing by claims that he was wiretapped by then-president Barack Obama during the election and as his administration pushes Congress to pass legislation to replace Obamacare.

Trump's approval rating has dipped below 40% twice before: 38% on Feb. 16 — the same week as Michael Flynn's resignation as Trump's national security adviser — and 39% on March 13.
