Montini: Jan Brewer says, ‘This woman thing has gotten way out of control’

I wonder if former Gov. Jan Brewer recognized that she might be speaking about herself.

I doubt it.

Irony was never her best subject.

Being accidentally ironic  – yes. Speaking ironically without intent – yes.

Recognizing irony – no.

So it's not surprising that Brewer, who spent much of her adult life in politics, and who became the fourth woman to serve as governor of Arizona, which was the first state to have elected four women as governor, would not pick up on the notion that telling CNN’s Jake Tapper that “this woman thing has gotten way out of control” might sound a little incongruous.

Perhaps even a tad twisted?

Brewer was on CNN for one reason

Particularly since the only reason Brewer was on CNN over the weekend was because she is among those being talked about as a possible Donald Trump running mate. Mostly because she's the one who keeps bringing it up.

And if she were actually to get some consideration for VP, don't you think she should recognize that it's because – in part – she’s a woman?

“Do you think he (Trump) needs to pick a woman? Given how bad his numbers are with women,” CNN’s Jake Tapper asked her.

“I don’t necessarily think you need to pick a woman,” Brewer answered. “You know, this woman thing has gotten way out of control I believe. And I think it’s been driven by the left. Because they think that it’s going to bring them over the end. But I think people, when they sit down to vote, they vote for the very best candidate. They want somebody that’s going to represent them.”

And Trump would do that?

He could represent women?

Really?

This Jan Brewer thing has gotten out of control.

P.S. In case you don’t recall, the four women governors of Arizona were Rose Mofford, Jane Dee Hull, Janet Napolitano and Brewer.
