Player to Watch:

Kendall Gould. The first-team All Conference receiver has also enjoyed success in other ventures with Waukesha North basketball, track and baseball, and he racked up 607 yards and seven touchdowns last year. It doesn’t hurt that leading rusher/thrower Brennan Demark returns at quarterback.

Keep an eye on: Brennan Demark. Coach Matt Harris considers Demark a special player who combines a great arm and high football IQ, assets that could help him break out and be one of the state’s premiere quarterbacks. Will McDonald, who flashed potential despite being a relative newcomer to the sport of basketball in the winter, could become a force at defensive end.

We say: North is a sneaky threat in the playoff race. One might discount the Northstars, who would have to climb into playoff position by

beating at least two of Arrowhead, Catholic Memorial, Waukesha West, Muskego and Mukwonago, but they’re in a good place entering the third year of Harris’ system. It would be premature to outright predict a playoff berth, but are we so crazy to think it’s at least in reach?
