Memorial will likely struggle to find a foothold amid the many powerful teams in the Classic 8, such as Arrowhead, Mukwonago, Kettle Moraine and Muskego. That's especially true considering three of the team's top four scorers from a year ago have graduated. "We have to build and grow together as a team every week and stay healthy," coach Therese Dejewski said. "It's going to be about the little things for us, especially on the defensive side of the ball, to improve as a team from week to week."
Dejewski has been encouraged by newcomers Caroline Dragani and Ally Kormanik over the summer. Hirsch won a pair of track and field state championships as a sophomore last June when she anchored the 4x100-meter relay team set a new Division 2 record and her 4x400 squad also emerged victorious. She was also on the third place 4x4.
