Dale Earnhardt Jr. says an exercise program designed to help him recover from a concussion has 'inadvertently gotten me in better shape.'

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a new gig.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver, who will miss half of this season with a concussion, will join the NBC Sports broadcast booth for Chase for the Sprint Cup races at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday and Martinsville Speedway next week.

In the process, he'll be reunited with former crew chief Steve Letarte.

“I’m excited to see these races from a different vantage point and hopefully offer some insight to the viewers,” Earnhardt said via release.

Earnhardt has won six Cup races at NASCAR's largest track and will join Letarte, Rick Allen and Jeff Burton during part of the broadcast. Sunday's race is the second elimination race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The field of 12 will be trimmed to eight.

“With five races left in the Sprint Cup playoffs, we are thrilled to welcome Dale Earnhardt Jr. into our broadcast booth as we present two of the most unpredictable and exciting races in the Chase,” Jeff Behnke, VP of NASCAR Production for the NBC Sports Group, said via release. “Dale is incredibly respected and the viewers and fans will be treated to his perspective on two very different race tracks.”

Why Dale Earnhardt Jr. is feeling fitter than ever

Earnhardt has been here before. He made his broadcasting debut in June, from the Fox booth during an Xfinity Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

And he visited ESPN's College GameDay before the Virginia Tech-Tennessee game at Bristol Motor Speedway.
