United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities
(March 1, 2013) – Waukesha, WI – United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following opportunities:
Massage Therapist Volunteers, Burlington
The Aurora Visiting Nurse Association is looking for volunteer massage therapists, healing touch and Reiki practitioners for their hospice patients. Their patients often benefit from alternative forms of pain control, relaxation, and stress relief. Some patients only want this type of service one time and others find it beneficial for repeat treatments. To become a volunteer massage therapist, healing touch or Reiki practitioner, provide a copy of your current license. You then have a brief training regarding confidentiality and working with hospice patients. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Teams for 5K, Waukesha
Safe Babies Healthy Families is seeking community minded individuals with a passion for children’s success to put together teams for their 5K Trot for Tots, that will be held this Summer. Teams will be asked to run or walk twice around Frame Park. This is a fun and healthy opportunity to get outside with family, friends and co-workers for a great cause! Volunteers should have a willingness to collect pledges for their team and let others know about the opportunity. This volunteer opportunity is open to all ages!

Special Olympics Coach, Greater Milwaukee Area
Looking for a coaching opportunity? The Special Olympics has 19 different sports and they are looking for coaches throughout the Greater Milwaukee Area. With 5 sports seasons, they are always looking for coaches that want to be involved year round or even for one season. Currently they have needs in the Oconomowoc, Waukesha, Milwaukee, and Menomonee Falls areas. No experience with Special Olympics athletes? They have plenty of information and great coaches that can assist you in any position. Requirements: Assistant coaches are accepted if they are 16 years or older. Head Coaches are preferred to be 21 years or older. Some sports experience is required. Nights and weekends are when our programs are running. Some traveling maybe required. Volunteer only position.

Counseling Center Volunteer, Waukesha
Help others to overcome barriers to counseling through the Counseling Center! The Counseling Center provides no cost; short term solutions focused counseling for individuals and families who are not able to access other counseling services; often due to cost or lack of insurance. Volunteers are able to select times that work with their schedule, and offer appointments during those times. Appointments must be made when a supervisor or director is present. Most appointments take place during regular business hours, but accommodations can be made for weeknight or weekend appointments. Minimum requirements for this opportunity: Master's Degree, in process of obtaining license related to counseling/social work. (Counseling Center can be used to obtain required 3,000 hours.) Licensed professionals seeking to give back to community through volunteering is also desired. There is a minimum of 2 hours per week commitment.
