Waukesha BluesFest Accepting Artist Submissions for 2013 Commemorative Poster Design Contest

Waukesha, Wis. -- Waukesha BluesFest, presented by the Waukesha Rotary Club, is entering its 7th year of offering an exciting line-up of national and area musicians along with a high class art show, delicious food, and a wide selection of beverages, all held at Naga-Waukee Park on Highway 83 just north of I94 in Delafield. The event subtitled as “An American Music & Art Festival” will take place Friday and Saturday, August 9 and 10, 2013.

The Waukesha Rotary Club is currently conducting its annual “Festival Art Poster” design contest. Submissions will be judged by the Waukesha BluesFest Art Show Chairperson and members of the festival planning committee. The contest is open to all interested artists. The First Place winner will receive a $100 prize and 4 weekend pass tickets to the festival. Second Place will receive 4 weekend pass tickets to the festival and Third Place will receive 2 weekend pass tickets. The winning poster will be printed and available for sale as the official commemorative poster of the 2013 Waukesha BluesFest with all proceeds going to support the festival.

General guidelines for the design of the 2013 poster include the following:

Artwork should depict the general themes of the event, “Blues Music” and “An American Music and Art Festival”
Artwork must include the name of the festival, Waukesha BluesFest
Artwork must include the dates and year of the festival, August 9 & 10, 2013
Poster will be printed on 12” x 18” paper in a vertical format with no bleeds, so the design boundaries must be roughly 11.5” x 17.5”
Artwork can be full color or a mix of color and black & white
Final artwork design must be printer-ready in an electronic format

All entries must be received by the deadline date of May 15, 2013 to be considered. Submissions should be sent via electronic file (pdf or jpg) to rmittnacht@wi.rr.com, with the contestant’s name, address and phone number included with the submission. Winners will be chosen and notified by June 10, 2012. A press release and possible photo opportunity with the winning entry artist and committee judges will follow in June.

Contest submissions will not be returned. The three winning entries will become the property of the Waukesha Rotary Club. Waukesha Rotary Club shall be entitled to post the three winning entries on Waukesha Rotary Club websites, and to use the three winning entries on clothing, point-of-sale materials, posters, or other materials of Waukesha Rotary Club’s choosing. By entering, you agree that if your submission is one of the three winning entries, the Waukesha Rotary Club will be able to use, reproduce, post, display, or create copies or derivative works of your winning entry in any media for any reason.

Contest submissions must be the original work of the entrant. The entry may not contain copyrighted material or material produced by someone besides the entrant, such as magazine cutouts, photographs, artwork, etc., unless written permission has been granted for its use. Entrant must submit a copy of the written permission to use the material with the entry. Use of copyrighted material without permission automatically disqualifies the entry.

By participating, entrants agree (a) to these official rules and to the decisions of the judges and Waukesha Rotary Club and its agents, which decisions shall be final in all respects; (b) to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Waukesha Rotary Club and Waukesha BluesFest, their affiliates and subsidiaries and their respective directors, officers and employees, agents and assigns from and against any and all claims, liabilities (including but not limited to copyright infringement), losses, damages or injuries of any kind resulting in whole or in part, from their participation in the contest or the acceptance and use of a prize; and (c) that Waukesha Rotary Club and its agents are not responsible for late, lost or misdirected entries or mail. Waukesha Rotary Club reserves the right, in its sole discretion to cancel the contest at any time.
