Brad Guettel, a resident of Waukesha, will be inducted into the Carroll University Athletics Hall of Fame on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. He is one of four new members selected for this honor.
Guettel, a 2001 Carroll graduate, was a standout athlete in football, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field from 1997-2001. He was a two-time all-American for the Pioneers football team and a three-time national qualifier in track and field. In football, Guettel was named Midwest Conference Special Teams Player of the Year in 2000 and 2001, while also garnering first-team all-conference and all-region honors. He was named a return specialist all-American by Hewlett Packard and USA Football in 2000 and finished the season ranked No. 11 in the country in kick return average (28 yards). In 2001, Guettel was named all-American by D3football.com, Hewlett Packard and Don Hansen’s Football Gazette. He finished 2001 ranked No. 2 in the country in punt return average (24.3 yards) and No. 18 in kick return average (26 yards). Following his senior year in football, Guettel participated in the College Bowl All-Star Game and was voted Most Valuable Player after scoring two touchdowns. He finished his Carroll track and field career as an 11-time Midwest Conference Champion and earned more than 30 all-conference honors. He also was part of several record-breaking relay teams. Following his undergraduate career, Guettel was an assistant coach for Carroll’s track and field program from 2002-2012.
A reception, brunch and induction ceremony will be 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, in the Stackner Ballroom of the Carroll University Campus Center, 101 N. East Ave., Waukesha.
