4-Star Table Tennis Tournament To Be Played in Waukesha

The Shorewood Table Tennis Club will again sponsor the Badger Open on September 19-20, 2009, at Center Court Sports Complex in Waukesha, located at 815 Northview Road.

 

This is a USA Table Tennis (USATT) 4-star rated tournament with over 200 athletes competing for $8,500 in prize money. Continuing the success of last year’s tournament, some of the best players from throughout the country will showcase their talent again in Waukesha, including Dan Seemiller, the U.S. men's Olympic table tennis coach and six-time national champion. Also competing is Han Xiao of Maryland who is currently ranked number 11th in the United States. The Wisconsin table tennis community is eager to welcome this extraordinary talent!

 

Local resident and player Linda Leaf (Milwaukee, WI), President of the Shorewood Table Tennis Club, is on the national Board of Directors for USATT and has greatly assisted in bringing the Badger Open tournament to Waukesha as well as the 2010 National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) Championships next spring. Says Leaf, "We are thrilled to be again hosting the Badger Open. As a lifetime sport in which physical stature, age and gender are not factors, it’s hard to beat table tennis.” Table tennis is also the number one participatory sport in the world and is both an Olympic and college scholarship sport.

 

For the table tennis enthusiast, there will be a recreational event for players, any age, who enjoying playing at home with family and friends and would like to participate in a tournament. Trophies will be awarded for the top four players. Recreational players may walk in and sign up by 8:30 AM on Saturday, September 19th.
