Volunteer Opportunities in Waukesha County

Mentor at Area Schools: Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking adult volunteers to mentor elementary-aged children in structured school settings in Waukesha beginning with the 2010-2011 school year. Applicants who want to begin mentoring in September are asked to enroll by Friday Aug 13th. Activities include assisting with homework, participating in light recreational activities and playing games. Mentoring opportunities are offered during the school day or after school.

 

Help the Unemployed: La Casa de Esperanza is looking for friendly people to assist in helping the unemployed. Experienced volunteers will assist clients with their resumes through tips for improving their resumes and with editing and reworking resumes. Experience with recruiting, screening, resumes, HR and bilingual is preferred.

 

Event Promotion Specialist: If you have a bachelor’s degree or related experience in public relations and/or communications, Good Friend, Inc. in Waukesha needs you! Get the word out regarding Good Friends “Fall Silent Auction” fundraiser by blogging, social networking, mail, public service announcements and news releases by using your skills in these areas.

 

Memory Enhancement Program: Join us at Curative Care Network on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays between 10:00am-2:00pm twice per month to provide assistance with memory enhancement activities such as brainteasers, creative projects, participate in light physical exercise activities and help prepare and serve lunch. You will be working with seniors who have experienced memory loss typically associated with normal aging and those who have suffered a stroke, have mild Alzheimer’s or dementia.
