Vehicle sustains 'heavy damage' in fire in Waukesha

Firefighters responded to a Waukesha residence for a car fire on Thursday, Oct. 4.

While no one was injured in a car fire on Thursday, Oct. 4, at a residence in Waukesha, the vehicle, a home and garage were damaged.

According to a news release from the Waukesha Fire Department, firefighters received a report at 8:22 a.m. Oct. 4 of a possible structure fire at 464 N. Washington Ave. 

Crews later learned a vehicle parked in front of a two-car detached garage of a two-story single-family home was on fire. 

Residents in the home and an adjacent residence were evacuated.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the car sustained "heavy damage" and the garage and home minor exterior damage, the release said. A second car inside the garage was not damaged.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. The fire department said the damage estimate is $10,000.

The property belongs to Jorge and Glorian Figueroa, according to online tax records.
