APPLETON - After getting its "Black Lives Matter" banner stolen three times,  Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is encouraging congregation members to use personal signs to support the movement.

"After any Black Lives Matter banner is stolen, we need to replace with 100 more signs across the Fox Valley — at homes, churches and businesses," fellowship member Shannon Kenevan in a news release issued Monday.

The fellowship, located along Calumet Street on Appleton's southeast side, reported that its second and third signs were stolen in July. The first banner was vandalized and then stolen last fall.

"We are saddened and deeply disturbed by the recent criminal activity on our property," the Rev. Kathleen Rolenz, senior interim minister with the fellowship, said in a prepared statement after the third sign was stolen. "As soon as a new sign is ordered, we'll replace it."

Fellowship members have been encouraged to post the signs in windows "spreading a message of support for the movement that challenges systemic racism in America."

A $10 donation is encouraged when getting a sign, with proceeds going to African Heritage Inc.
